Tuition

I am an experienced music educator dedicated to working with musicians of all ages, offering lesson plans tailored to your unique goals. Whether you are a young student aiming for excellence or an adult learner rediscovering the joy of playing, my studio is a place for sustainable musical growth.

My Teaching Philosophy

I take great pride in equipping my students with the strongest possible fundamentals, setting them up for a sustained and rewarding musical career. My approach is centered on operating the instrument with physical ease. By incorporating mindfulness and breathwork—drawing inspiration from yoga—I help students release tension, reconnect with their breath, and perform in a focused flow state.

Building Independent Musicians

A core goal of my tuition is to teach students how to teach themselves. I ensure every student develops the analytical and practice skills needed to sustain their progress between lessons, giving them the capacity to learn new repertoire without relying on a tutor for every note.

This approach prepares students for real-world success, whether they are striving for excellence in school band programs, competing in solo contests, or undertaking AMEB exams with a focus on deep musical understanding rather than rote learning.

Professional Expertise

As an active professional trombonist frequently performing with major ensembles like the Opera Australia orchestra, I bring current industry experience directly into my teaching. I know firsthand what it takes to succeed at the highest levels, and I pass that practical, real-world knowledge on to my students.

While I specialise in Trombone and Euphonium, I offer expert tuition across all brass instruments, always maintaining a strict focus on core fundamentals and comprehensive musical knowledge. Beyond instrumental performance, I also teach composition, with a specialised focus on brass and band orchestration.

Community Band Opportunities

Music is meant to be shared. I am the proud Musical Director of the A Grade Holroyd Brass Band and the Youth B Grade Willoughby Youth Brass Band. I actively work to bridge my students into the wider community music world, providing them with directions to supportive ensembles where they can perform, learn, and build lifelong friendships.
